Dramatic Breackthrough Collection
"Breakthrough" interprets Tuyue's current understanding of Chinese beauty, drawing inspiration from the female protagonists in the films "The Lover" and "Crooked but Correct." The designer saw them as muses, attempting to craft a modern "Chinese lady" image during the creative process. The collection primarily features silk and linen fabrics, which speak volumes on their own, whether it's real silk or linen. They convey a silent, cultural authenticity. Designs focus on simple, fluid coats and robes to highlight the fabric's texture and subtly downplay feminine curves, avoiding overt expressions of femininity.
A nod to the Chinese principle that true expression often lies in what's left unsaid, much like the essence of poetry that transcends its written words.
This product was inspired by a cheongsam that was 40 years old during a visit to the museum by the designer. It matches the cheongsam with the puff sleeves and pearl buttons of the Victorian era. It looks great whether paired with jeans or a jacquard skirt.
